The actor arrived here, on his maiden visit, for the last leg of the shoot in the Valley which was delayed due to the recent incessant rains here, sources in the film unit said.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the film’s shooting will take place at many picturesque locations across the Valley including at the famous resorts of Pahalgam and Gulmarg, they said.
Kashmir is the last leg of the shooting for the film, of which more than 70 per cent has been shot at various other locations.
The director wants to shoot a few action scenes, a war sequence and a song in the Valley and they reportedly plan to stay here for a month.
They said Salman also wants to use the time to see the Valley and get to know the people here.
Kabir had done a recce in the Valley before the floods in September last year and then another one earlier this year.
“Kabir wanted to start shooting in the first week of April, but the shooting got delayed due to the rains in the Valley,” the sources said.
The actor was given a traditional welcome at the Srinagar International Airport by the officials of Tourism Department and an event management company ‘The Wings’.
Huge crowds had gathered at the airport and outside it to catch a glimpse of the superstar.
Salman is the third superstar Khan after Shah Rukh and Aamir to shoot in Kashmir.
Apart from Salman and Kapoor, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made for Khan’s stay and stringent security would be put in place wherever the film’s shooting would take place. PTI
