Lolab Valley:
The Lolab Valley is traversed by a considerable stream known as LalKul (LAHWAL) which is fed by numerous tributaries flowing from surrounding hills, which are clothed by dense Deodar forests. There are eleven ponds in the valley having an average depth of 7 to 15 feet.Varnow village in Lolab valley has historical importance, being birth place of allama Anwar Shah Kashmiri.The valley is also known for the Sattbarren and a cave (Tramkhand) in the Jungles of Madmadav. It is a unique place of ancient architecture, situated on the outskirts of Madmadav village in Kalaroos area 19-kms from TRC, Kupwara Sattbarran can be reached by road up to Kalaroos and three kilometers thereafter on foot. Adjacent to Sattbarran there is a centuries old cave which local believe is connecting link to Central Asian States.
