Srinagar, Apr 30: Chaos and confusion prevail in Valley’s lone childcare hospital G B Panth here. There is no place for the attendants to have their meals or to stay put. People who come with their ailing children sit in corridors outside the wards.

“There is no space earmarked for attendants. They have to take lunch and dinner under open sky outside the hospital on main road. It is an embarrassment for all of us,” said doctors.  “The hospital administration is very well aware about the mess but they have closed their eyes,” they added.
Doctors said the hospital has been planned in a very “improper way.” “The aspect of attendants accompanying patients has been completely ignored,” the doctor added.
“It seems government exists on papers only. Nobody seems to be bothered about the plight of common people,” said a group of attendants who were having their meals on the pavements and roadside.
Minister for Medical Education R S Chib admitted that hospital has been designed in a “wrong way.”
“We are trying to work on the possibilities that can mitigate the sufferings of the people but it will take time,” Chib told Greater Kashmir.
When contacted Principal Government Medical College Dr Shahida Mir said, “Chief Minister and other ministers have visited the hospital on several occasions. They are aware about the problems faced by the people. Higher ups have to take an initiative.”
“I agree attendants have to suffer. It is really difficult to help them. We have approached the cantonment Board for some land but matter is still pending,” she said.
