Kashmir Celebrates Prophet's Birthday

Lakhs of devotees joined night-long prayers in mosques, shrines and jamia masjids across the Kashmir valley on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, despite cold weather.

The main congregation was held at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad, on the bank of Dal Lake.

Thousands of devotees, including women and children, who had come from different parts of the valley and other places, joined the night-long prayers in the shrine.
